Insightful Dialogue on Bilateral Relations

Prof. Dr. Cengiz Sisman, VP of the TACCS Academic Committee, attended an engaging and thought-provoking discussion featuring Chase Untermeyer, former U.S. Ambassador to Qatar, and former Ambassador David Satterfield, on the future of U.S.–Turkish relations. The event, held at the Asia Society Texas Center in Houston, brought together members of the Turkish and American communities, including Turkey’s Consul General, Ahmet Akıntı.

Turkey’s Role on the Global Stage

Ambassador Satterfield addressed a wide range of political, social, and economic issues in the Middle East, with a particular focus on Syria. He highlighted Turkey’s evolving role beyond a regional power, emphasizing its strategic global positioning and balanced relations with Russia, China, Europe, and the Middle East.

A Stronger U.S.–Turkey Partnership

Drawing from his experience as a key negotiator, Ambassador Satterfield expressed optimism about a more collaborative and constructive partnership between the United States and Turkey. He emphasized that enhancing economic ties could serve as the foundation for broader cooperation, ultimately benefiting both nations in the years to come.
